Bryson Petersen is the new technical director of Lawton Community Theatre.
Petersen is an actor, singer, teaching artist and stage manager with over 15 years of experience in North Texas.
Petersen most recently served as the assistant arts education director at the Wichita Theatre in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he administered the Acting Out In Class program — a grant-funded theater workshop series delivered to area elementary and middle schools.
He also directed, assistant directed, performed in and stage managed upwards of 50 main-stage musicals. Additionally, he is an Equity Membership Candidate, performing professionally in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Petersen comes with a technical theater background, having served as the lead set carpenter at the Wichita Theatre after apprenticing under his father for several years.
“I’m excited to not only come back to the technical side of the theater,” Petersen said, “but to join the Lawton Community Theatre family. From the moment I walked in the door, I felt so welcomed and the board members are so supportive. We have some Broadway set carpenters in the Petersen lineage, and I can’t think of a better way for me to join the team. ”
Marsha Thomas, LCT board president, is thrilled to have Peterson and new Executive Director Chance Harmon at Lawton Community Theatre.
“I’m very excited to have Bryson joining us at LCT as technical director,” Thomas said. “He is very experienced in set design and building, and we are looking forward to what he will bring to our theater. Chance and Bryson will make a great team to lead LCT into this new decade.”
