The Lawton Farmers Market will host its Christmas at the Farmers Market from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at its winter market location in the Cameron University Animal Sciences Building on Southwest 38th.
More than 20 local vendors will be on hand with items ranging from fresh or locally grown produce, to locally raised meats, including goat, longhorn, angus, lamb and pork, farm fresh eggs, honey, a wide assortment of baked goods, handmade soap, hand-sewn items, woodworking, plus a variety of local artisans, crafters and food vendors.
Fit Kids of Southwest Oklahoma will co-host the event and hold a kids come-and-go workshop to create bird seed tree ornaments from 10 a.m. to noon.
Each month a free activity, experiment or project will be provided by Fit Kids for kids to do while visiting the market. There will be a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) emphasis and activities may also promote health and wellness through gardening, art, nutrition, physical activity and mindfulness. Visit their Facebook page at FitKidsofSWOK for more information.
Santa will visit the market from 10 a.m. to noon and visitors are welcome to take their own photos with the man in red.
“You will find all sorts of treasures and treats at your Lawton Farmers Market this Saturday. We have lots of new vendors,” said market spokesperson Cathy Field. “Shopping at the farmers market is fun, and it helps support the small farms, farmers, and businesses in our community. We encourage everyone to be a Locavore, buy local first and shop with us.”
