FREDERICK Tony Clendening, 49, Frederick, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, in Lawton.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, at Kelley Memorial Chapel, under direction of Hunn Black and Merritt Funeral Home, Eufaula.
A second memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2017, at Frederick High School Gym in Frederick.
Tony was born March 19, 1968, in Sycamore, Ill., to Charles Richard and Wilma Jean Knight Clendening. He attended school in Sycamore. Tony received his G.E.D. from Eufaula High School, and he received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Southeastern Oklahoma State University. Tony worked as a sixth-grade science teacher in Frederick for four years. While teaching, he also coached girl's slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball and assisted with the boy's baseball. Tony used his own time to make sure the fields were mowed and in good shape.
Survivors include his daughters: Tiffany Clendening, of Frederick, and Christina Clendening, of Tulsa; brothers: Kevin Clendening and wife Maryann of Las Vegas, and Charles Clendening of Eufaula; sisters: Dawn Clendening of Eufaula, and Sheri Ballard of Onapa, Okla.; and granddaughter, Melody, of Frederick.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Clarence Edward "Eddie" Clendening; and one sister, Cindy McClain.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Frederick girls softball team.
