Richard William "Rick" White

Richard William “Rick” White , was born in Lawton, Oklahoma September 28, 1951 to Virginia Ruth White (Whitfield) and Floyd L. Bob White. Rick departed this life on January 10, 2019, near his home at Chester, Arkansas.

Rick spent the majority of his life in Ft. Smith, Arkansas, where he graduated from Southside High School in 1969. After high school Rick traveled the country with his guitar and his little dog Apple, living for a time in the islands and Puerto Rico.

He married Debbie Downs in 1979 and was blessed with two sons, Dustin Thomas White and James William White. Rick was also dad to Oliver Nathaniel Downs who he loved as his own. He worked as an electrician as a younger man, but devoted his life to his music, and played at the Crossroads Club for many years for his dad, Bob White.

Rick leaves behind his sons, Dustin White and James White of Chester, Arkansas and Oliver Downs of Ozark, Arkansas; his sisters Kathy Cloud and husband Chris, of Marlow, OK, Laura Bills and husband Tim of Chattanooga, OK, and Snow Jewel White of Fort Smith, AR; his brothers Zenith Starr of the Virgin Islands, Robert White of the Virgin Islands; his mother Virginia Bubel and husband Robert of Comanche, OK; five grandchildren, five nieces and nephews, and many cousins and special friends in Forth Smith area. He will always be special “Papa” to Henry T.A. White.

Rick was preceded in dearth by his father Floyd L. “Bob” White, his grandparents Zella and “Bulldog” White, and Will and Elsie Whitfield.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday January 25th at Woodlawn Memorial Park (state line cemetery).
