Memorial service for Mary Frances Gatlin Corley “Fran” will be 1:00 pm, Saturday January 18, 2020 at Letitia Baptist Church with Pastor Juan Rodriguez, officiating.
Fran was born on April 15, 1937 in Bonham, Texas to Truell (T.L) and Mary Edwards Gatlin. She was the middle of three daughters. The family moved to Kansas in 1941 and Fran graduated from Wichita East High School in 1955. Following graduation, she worked as the executive secretary at Great Plains Life Insurance of Wichita. She met TJ Corley when she stopped at his gas station with a flat tire. He fixed the flat, bought her a tank of gas and that was the beginning of their lives together. They married on March 11, 1963 in Las Vegas. In 1968 they moved to Oklahoma City, where they owned a TBA distributorship for Conoco. They moved to Lawton, Oklahoma in 1970 and opened Corley & Sons Tire Center, with their two sons Terry and Brad who worked with them when they were of age. After a brief retirement, they opened Corley’s Auto Salvage & Wrecker. Fran and TJ were long-term members of the Lawton County Club. Fran loved golfing, crafts, flowers and working in her garden. She competed with her dad at see who could grow the first ripe red tomato each summer. Fran and TJ sold the salvage yard and retired in 2008 and enjoyed the peacefulness of the country life.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband, TJ Corley; her oldest son Terry; her daughter in law Kaycye; her granddaughter-in-law Nadia and her parents T.L. and Mary Gatlin. She is survived by her son, Brad Corley; grandsons Troy and Devin Corley; her granddaughters Lancye and Kaytlan Cochrane; and her sisters Virginia Shore of Tallahassee, Florida and Martha Shelley of Topeka, Kansas.
Any memorial contributions in her honor may be made to Cox’s Store Volunteer Fire Department.
