Lucille Ann 'Lucy' Tonemah
APACHE Graveside service for Lucille Ann "Lucy" Tonemah, 71, Apache, will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2018, at Mt. Scott KCA Cemetery under direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home with the Rev. Sharon Yeahquo officiating.
A prayer service will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at United Methodist Church of Apache.
Mrs. Tonemah gained her heavenly reward on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018. She was born March 24, 1946, in Gowanda, N.Y., to Ulysses and Pauline Sundown Scott. She grew up on the Cattaraugus Reservation. She is an alumna of the Thomas Indian School on the Cattaraugus Reservation. She attended college at Haskell University, where she met Quannah Tonemah, and she married him in 1965. He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 2001. She was a lay speaker in the United Methodist Church and preached at United Methodist Church of Apache, Petarsy United Methodist Church at Richard Spur and Albert Horse United Methodist Church, south of Carnegie. She enjoyed writing and spending time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. She also enjoyed teaching children's Bible study and participating in numerous church activities. She was a member of the Seneca Nation of New York.
She is survived by her sons: Curtis L. Tonemah and wife, Kelly, Quannah E. Tonemah Jr., all of Oklahoma City, and Edwin S. Tonemah of Lawton; grandchildren: Cameron Tee Tonemah, Allison Tonemah, Bailee S. Tonemah, Ethan S. Tonemah, Austin M. Tonemah, Elena Tonemah, Dylan Tonemah and Logan Tonemah; great-grandchildren: Ezra Tee Tonemah and Jordan Tee Tonemah; sister, Jean Geoffreda; and numerous beloved sisters from the United Methodist Church of Apache and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses and Pauline Scott; her husband, Quannah Tonemah Sr.; and siblings.
