Judith Sharon Howell Soares
HOOKS, Texas Judith Sharon Howell Soares, 67, of Hooks, Texas, passed away peacefully at 2:48 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017, at a Texarkana hospice in-patient care facility. Her loving and dedicated husband, Frank Soares, and her two daughters: Tanya Gentry and Jennifer Thurston were by her side, holding her hands.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017, at Tapp Memorial United Methodist Church in New Boston, Texas.
Judy was born June 13, 1950, at St. Michael Hospital in Texarkana, Ark.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Erva Willamette Howell and father, William Watson Howell; a half brother, Delbert McEntire; and son, Tad Burkland.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Soares of Hooks, Texas; daughters: Tanya Gentry (Jim) of Stephenville, Texas, and Jennifer Thurston (Reginald) of Texarkana, Texas; sisters: Linda Berry of Madison, N.C.; and Denese Freeman
(Richard) of Lawton; brother, Mike Howell of Hooks, Texas; and grandsons: Christian Gentry, Zachery Gentry, Connor Burkland and Jayden Cellers.
Judy was self-employed and owned a cleaning service. Her hobbies included fishing and softball. She also loved flea markets, yard sales, and traveling with her husband Frank. She was a former member of the Hooks 4-H Club, Texarkana Kiwanis, Redwater City Council, Redwater United Methodist Church and the International Order of Rainbows for Girls.
Her courageous battle with MS was an inspiration to all who knew her.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations of toys to be sent to the Tapp Memorial United Methodist Church 'Toys for Tots' ministry.
