Funeral for Jackie Leon Appleton, 76, of Lawton, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, in Becker-Rabon Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Evans, Dayspring Community Church, officiating.
Burial will follow in Cache Cemetery.
Jackie Leon Appleton passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2017, in Lawton.
He was born May 14, 1941, in Elk City, to Dexter and Manie (Lewis) Appleton, and moved with his family to Chickasha in 1954. He graduated from Chickasha High School in 1959. He married his high school sweetheart, Janie Sue McCarty Aug. 3, 1961, in Chickasha. They lived in Anadarko briefly before moving to Weatherford and then to Shawnee, where he worked For Humpty Supermarkets. He and Janie moved to Lawton in 1969, where he worked for Humpty until 1979. He then worked for Frito Lay, Inc. before retiring in 2001. Jackie was a member of Dayspring Community Church in Lawton.
Jackie is survived by his wife; and his daughter, Cynthia LaNae Emmett of Lawton; his son, Shawn Daniel and daughter-in-law, Sara Appleton of Lawton; three granddaughters: Chelsey and husband Ben Bench of Madison, Wis., Cori Emmett of Nashville, Tenn., and Madison Appleton of Lawton; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Phil Appleton; and sister, Fern Howery of Chickasha.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that funds be directed to the Integris Nazih Zuhdi Transplant Institute, 3300 N.W. Expressway, Oklahoma City 73112.
