Career Fair set Friday at GPTC
Hundreds of high school students will have the chance to learn more about job, career and educational opportunities on Friday.
The Lawton Branch of the NAACP, Lawton Publics School and Great Plains Technology Center will present the "Economic Keys to Success" career fair from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the Worley Center at Great Plains, 4500 W. Lee.
Twenty-one organizations will make presentations. They include educational institutions, the military, banking, a call center, the Lawton Police Department and the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, and Goodyear.
Eugene DeLoach of the NAACP said this is the first career fair the organization has organized and reflects its goal of promoting economic development in the community.
The prime audience is seniors from Lawton's three public high schools. DeLoach said some students may not have given a lot of thought about continuing their education, pursuing a career, or even finding a job. The career fair will show them some of the options that are available.
