A Tuesday night single-vehicle rollover wreck on a Cotton County roadway sent a Geronimo woman to an Oklahoma City hospital.

Sondra L. McCuiston, 59, was flown to OU Medical Center where she was admitted in fair condition with head and arm injuries, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

McCuiston was driving a Dodge Ram pickup northbound on U.S. 281 shortly after 3:45 p.m. Tuesday when, for an unknown reason, she went off the roadway to the right and rolled 4¼ times, Trooper Carlin Neece reported. The driver, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pinned inside the truck for about 45 minutes before Walters and Geronimo firefighters freed her using the Jaws of Life.

The driver’s condition and the cause of the wreck remain under investigation.

The roadway on U.S. 281, about 5/10-mile north of Cotton County Road 1780, was closed until shortly before 5:30 p.m. for the rescue, helicopter landing and removal of the vehicle, according to the OHP.
