SNYDER — A tractor-trailer rig and a train collided Tuesday east of Snyder, closing traffic and sending the truck driver to the hospital.

The tractor-trailer was traveling southbound on Oklahoma 54 around 2:30 p.m. when it crossed the railroad tracks and was struck by a westbound train, about 2 miles north of U.S. 62, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The unidentified truck driver was transported to Comanche County Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the OHP. He was not admitted.

The southbound lane of Oklahoma 54 was closed for just short of two-and-a-half hours to allow for the medical treatment, investigation and clean-up of the wreckage.

The Kiowa County Sheriff’s Department and Snyder Fire Department joined the OHP in the response.
