ANADARKO — An 18-year-old Caddo County man is being held in jail with no bond after he was charged with a shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead.

John Paul Randy Williams-Ryan, of Apache, made his initial appearance Monday in Caddo County District Court where he received a felony count of first-degree murder — deliberate intent, court records indicate. The crime is punishable by life in prison, life without parole, or death.

Williams-Ryan is accused of shooting Payden McCullar during a fight around 2 a.m. Saturday at a home near the Comanche-Caddo County line.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Williams-Ryan and McCullar had gotten into a fight. After telling McCullar to leave, the fight escalated and Williams-Ryan told investigators that McCullar ran into a car twice as he was trying to leave, leading to another fight.

Following the second fight, Williams-Ryan said he retrieved a gun from the house and went outside, again telling McCullar to leave. Williams-Ryan told investigators he fired his gun multiple times at McCullar’s car in attempt to shoot his tires before firing into the side of the car. A bullet shot through the side struck and killed McCullar, the affidavit states.

Court records indicate that due to the charge, bond for Williams-Ryan was denied.

Williams-Ryan returns to court at 9 a.m. Dec. 19 for his preliminary hearing conference.
