Trinity Christian students seek justice in mock trial
A Trinity Christian Academy student falsely accused of stealing a gold coffee cup was put on trial Friday as part of a judiciary lesson.
Shirley Innocent (the names were changed to protect the innocent) faced a judge and jury of her peers of Jeanette’s Urbanowicz’s fifth through eighth grade class. The cup had mysteriously disappeared from her desk during lunch and recess and two witnesses placed Innocent at the scene of the crime around the time it reportedly took place.
“I wanted them to learn the judicial process including its most important part,” Urbanowicz said. “And that is that everyone is innocent until proven guilty.”
