Pig, Lamb, Goat Show set at Coliseum
All animals will move in Friday for the 2019 Great Plains Winter National Pig, Lamb & Goat Show taking place Friday and Saturday at the Comanche County Fairgrounds Expo Building, 920 S. Sheridan.
Flyers for the event announce that exhibitors will be permitted to “show out of trailer.” Heaven Kern, who is sharing event coordinator duties this year with last year’s sheep superintendent, Landon Cochrane, explained what this means: If exhibitors don’t want to actually unload their animals and use them in the pens provided, they can keep them in their trailers and conduct them directly to the arena when time comes for them to show.
“It cuts down on sickness on your hogs,” she points out. Also, bags of wood chips to provide bedding for animals inside those pens are about $7, and if an exhibitor brings very many animals, the cost runs up quickly.
