Kiowa elder trip registration deadline Friday
The Kiowa Tribe Administration on Aging (AOA) program is taking nearly 30 tribal elders out west Oct. 23-27.
During the year, AOA staff surveyed elders on where they would like to go or visit. The majority answered Albuquerque, N.M. As part of the trip, AOA Director Darin Zotigh said they will have days and nights of sightseeing and free time.
“Our elders are our treasures, this is one way we want to say thank you,” Zotigh said. “It should be a fun trip just seeing our elders enjoy themselves and not have to worry about the expense.”
In July 2019 legislation was voted on and approved, making trips like this possible, according to Neely Tsoodle, tribe information officer.
The tribal AOA program serves tribal members 62 years and older within the service area near tribal headquarters in Carnegie. The tribe has seven districts in the southwest part of the state, which also includes one at-large district.
