Fitch delivers final State of the City address

From overcoming challenges posed by computer malware to adjusting to expansion of personnel and missions at Fort Sill, Lawton has had a good year, Mayor Fred Fitch said Friday.

The city has seen “a lot of positive growth,” Fitch told members of the Lawton Fort Sill Chamber of Commerce in his last State of the City address as mayor. Fitch, who did not seek re-election, will be replaced in January by Stan Booker, who won election during the Nov. 6 general election.

Fitch said Lawton faced challenges in the last 12 months, but has overcome them and will continue to improve because of positive employees, city leaders and community residents who are interested in their community.
