Fire truck missing from defunct fire department

Comanche County Sheriff’s investigators are looking into the theft of a vehicle from defunct volunteer fire department’s inventory.

Deputies were called Wednesday to the Porter Hill Fire Department, 56 NW Meers/Porter Hill Road by Calvin Nickell, president of the department’s board of directors, on the report of a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe SUV with a light bar on top that was missing from the station, according to the report. He said he’d been going over some inventory sheets for the department since it had been shut down in early September. That’s when, he said, he discovered the truck was missing.

Nickell had filed the truck’s title and went to an apartment in Elgin where the truck was last seen a week ago. According to the report, that’s when he discovered it was missing.
