Dual military family, the Citizens, Fort Sill Family of the Year
With November’s recognition of national veterans and Military Family Month, the core consistency to the soldier’s life is the family unit.
This principle was in the spotlight Thursday when the Citizen family, a dual military family, was selected the Fort Sill Family of the Year during an honors ceremony at the Patriot Club. The family was recognized for its efforts to increase awareness for Families of Fallen Soldiers and cancer. Their outreach has included service through fundraisers, church outreach programs, the VA Center, and the Family Readiness Group.
Stationed for the past 2½ years at Fort Sill, the husband and wife were still in a state of shock moments after receiving dozens of congratulations from members of the audience.
