Young works to honor cousin’s memory
Blake Young is blessed with great speed and now he keeps getting stronger and stronger through a work ethic that comes from the heart.
And, if he ever feels the need to let up on his workouts, all he has to do is look at the “NM” decal on his Cache High School helmet to gain renewed desire to improve.
Just a couple of months ago Young’s cousin Nathan Morrow was shot in the head and killed while trying to protect a fellow resident at a Cache apartment complex. Morrow, who also played football at Cache High School, had just moved into the complex and when he heard noise outside, he went to check it out. He saw a woman being beaten and he went to protect her. While he was getting the attacker off the woman, he was shot from behind by one of the other men, all of whom were captured and remain in custody awaiting trial.
“I work out all the time to honor the memory of my cousin, Nathan Morrow,” Young said. “He always told me that you had to work hard to be the best at something and I want to do everything in my power to make sure I honor his memory each day in practice and in our games.”
