Walton tourney rained out

For the third straight year, the Jim Walton Bragging Rites tournament finals were unplayable due to rain.

The Lawton-based Southwest Shockers Red team was slated for a semifinal against the Oklahoma Travelers on Sunday at Cameron's McCord Field, but early-morning showers forced cancellation. The two teams plan to makeup the game in a regular-season format, perhaps as early as this week.

The tournament is named after Jim Walton, a veteran Major League Baseball scout and Shattuck native who often lends his experience to the Shocker program.

Shockers Red (18U) went 3-0 for the tournament, which battled wet weather beginning Friday. The Shockers play the Oklahoma City Outlaws on Tuesday at Rose State College before beginning the Justin Sullivan Tournament this weekend.

Shockers Black (17U) went 1-3 in event, and has scheduled games against Lawton-based Oklahoma Sting (1-3 in Jim Walton) and Ardmore today before opening a series against the Woodward Minors this weekend.
