Skateboard competition to raise money, interest for new skate park
“Support your local skateboarders. Help us get a new park. It’s gotta be a group effort.” ORGANIZER, JUSTIN STEVENS
The Lawton skatepark will host a competition Saturday that is hoped to get the wheels in motion and momentum moving forward for the sport locally.
The L-Town Throwdown begins at 1 p.m. at the Louise D. McMahon Park, Southwest 38th Street and Lee Boulevard. Registration begins at noon. It’s going to be a family-friendly event to show off the athleticism of an array of unconventional athletes.
Three age groups will battle for prizes: 12-and-under, 13-17-years-old, and 18-and-older. There will also be a best trick contest.
