Meisel one stroke off lead at Fort Sill

As the second round wore on, MacArthur's Trent Meisel got stronger.

The senior left-hander fired a 2-under 70 in the second round of the Class 5A state golf tournament at Fort Sill Golf Course.

Golfers played 36 holes and Meisel's score of 142 has him sitting in second place just one stroke behind Tahlequah's Jake Johnson and one shot ahead of Bishop Kelley's Brady King and Edison's Mason Keller.

Meisel tees off today at 8:38 a.m.

The conditions could not have been more different for the two rounds. The first round took place under cold, rainy and blustery conditions forcing many players, who were unprepared and wearing shorts, to no doubt shoot higher than normal.

But there was Meisel on his home course playing well in front of about 10 friends and family members that followed him all day long.
