Mac uses three home runs to power past Cache, 8-4
The wind was kind to MacArthur on Friday.
With the wind blowing behind them, the Highlanders sent balls over the fence on more than one occasion to clinch a 8-4 victory against Cache and a spot in the Bo Bowman Tournament championship game Saturday.
After Racer Felter and Michelle Artzberger singled to get on base, Jack Smith delivered the first home run in the opening inning to give Mac an early lead. Colby Smith and Tony Puccino added solo home runs later in the game. All three shots went to left field with a little help from the wind.
“I thought we swung it pretty well,” coach Rodney DeLong said. “When he threw fastballs, that’s what we hit. We didn’t hit the off-speed stuff very good. We worked some counts and then got ahead and looked for fast balls and hit them hard. We just couldn’t get a whole lot going in one inning again. I’m thoroughly pleased with the way we played.”
