Mac, Ike to square off, weather permitting

After sweeping MacArthur at home three weeks ago, Eisenhower makes the return trip trip east down Gore to face the Highlanders tonight, provided school is in session today. If school is canceled, the games will be too.

The girls are slated to get the action going at 6 p.m. with the boys following at approximately 7:40 p.m.

On Jan. 14, the boys game turned out to be an instant classic. Keyshawn Perkins scored five points in the final 30 seconds, including a tiebreaking layup with nine seconds left, to break MacArthur's heart in a 70-68 win.

Tonight should be much of the same when these two exciting teams lace up their sneakers.

Class 6A No.  Eisenhower (12-4) comes in having won eight of its last nine games. Its only loss was in overtime to Prime Prep (Dallas) last Tuesday. Class 5A No. 6 MacArthur (11-5) has won its last three, and is just a few bounces away from having won its last seven games.

The individual battles are sure to delight the crowd as well with well-known names facing off. Ike senior guard Keyshawn Perkins was tasked with guarding the No. 2 prospect in the nation, Emmanuel Mudiay, last Tuesday against Prime Prep and shut him out in the first half. Tonight he'll guard Trace Cook who scored his 1000th career point against Star Spencer in January.
