Jackson use to role as Mac's new go-to player

MacArthur girls have spent all this season adjusting to life without a true post player. For four seasons the Highlanders relied on all-stater Alaysia Vann for both low-post scoring and rebounds.

This season No. 12 Mac (12-10) hasn't had Vann and the results have been up-and-down as it gears up for its regional at El Reno. The Highlanders play rival Altus (6-13) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Having Vann opened things up on the perimeter for the bevy of shooters Mac had. Now that Vann has graduated, getting space for the shooters to work has fallen to senior point guard Paj Jackson.

And she hasn't disappointed.

Jackson is having a banner season averaging around 15 points per game, but routinely scores 20 or more points. A combination of past experience and working on her game during the summer has helped drive her production this season.
