Ieremia vital leader for Eagles
Ask Eisenhower head football coach Mike Burris to name the leaders on his team, you don't have to wait long to hear Tavita Ieremia's name.
Ask Ike coaches about Ieremia and they will tell you he is also one of the team's cut-ups. His unique ability to laugh, while also leading, makes him one of the more important players on the 2017 Ike roster.
Like many of the Ike players, Ieremia will be asked to play on both sides of the ball this year. In addition to being one of the team's better offensive linemen, he will be featured on the defensive line or possibly at linebacker during the year. Ieremia said playing both ways isn't for everyone, but is proud that he and his teammates are on the field so often.
"Playing both sides of the ball isn't easy, because you don't get that many breaks," Ieremia said. "But toward the middle of the game, you don't really care because your blood pressure is high and you're just trying to win the game."
When asked about his favorite classes in school, Ieremia is much like most 17-year-olds on the football team.
"My favorite class has gotta be weights," Ieremia said. "And lunch."
