Green’s match goes to waste as CU falls to MSU

WICHITA FALLS, Texas  Despite a near perfect match from Rebecca Green, Cameron's volleyball team fell in a back and forth five set match to Red River rival Midwestern State, winning sets two and four 25-21 and 25-13 but losing sets one, three, and five 25-15, 25-20, and 15-11. The loss drops CU to 5-6 overall and 1-5 in the Lone Star Conference.

Cameron has not beaten Midwestern State since the 2007 season.

Cameron and MSU were almost even in hitting percentage (.178 and .173) but the Mustangs had seven less errors than the Aggies and won the battle at the net, recording 12 team blocks, while CU only totaled four.

The Aggies fell behind early in the first set as the Mustangs jumped out to an 11-1 lead. A couple more big runs by MSU led them to the 25-15 first set victory. However, the Aggies came back firing in the second set with an 8-1 run to give them a big lead which they would hold, even when MSU rallied late, to give them the 25-21 win to tie the match at 1-1.

Midwestern State took back the momentum in the third set, thanks to another big early lead, they held of the Aggies to get the set win 25-20, and take the match lead 2-1. However, Cameron showed resilience and after falling behind 3-0, surged back and dominated set four 25-13, while only committing one attack error in the set.
