CU volleyball team signs three Texas players
New Cameron University volleyball coach Qi Wang has announced three additions to the Aggie program, marking the first recruits he's signed since taking over the position in January.
The three newest Aggie volleyballers are 5-9 hitter Jordan Escobar of Calhoun High School in Port Lavaca, Texas; Ingrid Boatman, a 5-9 setter from Decatur High School and most recently Paris Junior College; and Taylor Tepfer, a 5-7 libero/defensive specialist from Burleson High School in Texas and Vernon Junior College.
"I am very pleased to add the three dedicated student-athletes to join our program," said Wang. "We are looking forward to having a positive experience on and off the court at Cameron."
The Aggies will return to the floor in early August and they will open the 2014 season on the road for four of non-conference matches in Wichita Falls.
When Wang took the position there weren't a lot of gaps to fill as only two seniors Jen Risoli and Erin Hardy will be leaving from the 2013-14 roster, but a a host of talented players will return to try and get the Aggies into the Lone Star Tournament for the first time in five seasons.
Boatman addresses the depth issue at setter where starter Kayla Hebert returns for her sophomore season. Boatman played in 25 matches in two seasons at Paris Junior College with more than 250 assists recorded. She helped Paris compile a 29-8 record in 2013 and a fourth-place finish in the Region XIV Tournament.
