Lawton High and MacArthur renewed their rivalry on the hardwood on Friday night, providing two contrasting results for the second time this season.
The Class 5A No. 10 Lady Highlanders tipped off the doubleheader with a dominant 61-32 showing, giving them there third-straight victory over a city rival and seventh win in eight games.
The LHS boys avenged their counterparts, though, overcoming an early double-digit lead to complete the sweep of Class 5A No. 7 Mac, 81-70, in the main event.
Graves’ career night leads LHS boys past Mac
Jamel Graves was focused all day, and it showed on the court.
The freshman center took advantage of Mac’s lack of size in the paint, utilizing his 6-foot-6 frame to erupt for 22 points in an 81-70 win over the Highlanders at Wolverine Gym.
It was a long-await breakout performance for Graves, who rarely finds himself scoring in double figures. His high coming into the contest was 15 points, but that was outlier for the young player.
