Baseball game brings all-area week to close

Sunday’s All-Area baseball game wraps up another year of high school sports in Southwest Oklahoma.

Run by brothers David and Danny Garza and hosted graciously by the Cameron Aggies, the game is set for a 4:30 p.m. first pitch at Cameron’s McCord Field.

The game will feature a North and a South squad. On the South Team, Marlow has four seniors — Matt Cobbs, Nolan Herchock, Houston Davis and Don Huber — playing after they led the Outlaws to the Class 3A state championship game and a runner-up finish last week. Duncan, which lost in the Class 5A quarterfinals, will see Derek Bridges and Josh Bumgarner play their final game. The South will be coached by Mangum’s Mike Wendt, Cordell’s Bobby Blackburn and Fletcher’s Jared King.
