Barnett not resting on reputation
At 6-3, 304 pounds, Jalin Barnett doesn't look like a typical teenager heck, he doesn't look like a typical human being but that is exactly what has launched him into the high-prized recruit stratosphere.
And the soft-spoken mountain of a young man is taking it all in stride and enjoying his senior season at right guard for the Lawton High Wolverines. He has offers and interest from nearly every school a person can think of, but he has narrowed his list to four choices: Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Oregon State.
"It's been real tough because I've been getting a lot of attention and sometimes I just don't feel sure about where I should go," Barnett said. "To get there, I know that I have to practice and work hard today and tomorrow."
He has an official visit to Arkansas scheduled for September 20 when the Razorbacks (1-1) host Northern Illinois. Despite a 3-9 2013 season that saw a nine-game losing streak, Arkansas has been near the top of Barnett's list since a trip over the summer thanks to its facilities and head coach Bret Bielema.
Obviously it's easy to see the connection to the other schools. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State have a lot of fans in this region and Lawton High has sent quite a few players to Oregon State. Arkansas is the only visit he has scheduled right now, but he will make trips to other schools at some point.
