Aggies drop nail-biter to Tarleton, 2-1, to open regional

COMMERCE, Texas — Last weekend’s Lone Star Conference Tournament battle with Tarleton State hinted at the pitchers’ duel that was to come Thursday in the opener of the Division II South Central Region 2 Tournament.

Cameron (33-16) was tied 1-1 heading into the seventh inning, but the Aggies lost to No. 19 Tarleton State, 2-1, courtesy of a walkoff RBI single to right field courtesy of Tanna Huie to give the TexAnns the win and push CU to the brink of elimination.

If Cameron defeats Dixie State (42-12) today at 3:30 p.m., the Aggies will play another elimination game, at 6 p.m., against the loser of Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Commerce. Cameron needs to win both games today just to make it to Saturday’s final game at noon and potential “if” game at 2:30 p.m.
