Roads lead to Elmer Thomas Park for SOS '17
Some roads will be closed and alternate routes will be necessary for a short time for the 12th Annual Spirit of Survival that takes place Saturday and Sunday. Organizers are expecting more than 4,500 runners and cyclists to visit and find out what this area has to offer. For the first time this year, bicycle routes will take visitors for a scenic tour many people don't see while driving to Elgin, Fletcher, Cyril and Sterling before they head back to Lawton.
SOS brings awareness for those suffering from cancer, along with providing funds for cancer research and clinical trials conducted at Cancer Centers of Southwest Oklahoma in Lawton, Altus and Duncan. All proceeds benefit these cancer centers.
This allows patients who qualify for experimental new treatments and want to participate in clinical trials to receive the best standard of care and cancer treatment, as well as promising new treatment protocols to help treat and cure their cancer.
