Whang, D'Arcy to present recital Thursday

"Romanticism in Transition" featuring Hyunsoon Whang on piano and guest soprano Amelia D'Arcy will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the Cameron University Theatre.

The event is sponsored by Cameron University Lectures and Concerts and is open to the public at no charge.

The recital will feature works written between the late 19th and the mid-20th century by Brahms, Strauss, Barber, Gershwin and Poulenc.

Whang is a professor at Cameron, where she has taught many students who have gone on to win state and national competitions. She received the Governor's Arts and Education Award in 2010.

D'Arcy has sung with orchestra, chamber ensemble, in recital and concert, and on the operatic stage. She was a soloist with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at age 15 and attended The Juilliard School and Columbia University, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts magna cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
