Help Ella find her 'Dreams on Ice' at the Simmons Center
DUNCAN Ladies and gentlemen, pardon the intrusion, but Ella has lost her winter dream. Can you help the young skater Ella with her search?
Ella's quest in regaining her winter dream provides the narrative Friday when the Chisholm Trail Arts Council brings "Skatetacular: Dreams on Ice" to the Simmons Center.
The 7:30 p.m. production is the third act in the 2017-18 CTAC Live series, and "Skatetacular: Dreams on Ice" may be the most unique experience the council has presented in its 20-year mission to promote the arts in Stephens County and Southwest Oklahoma.
"The arts council has never presented an ice skating show, and this is definitely something different for us," said Darcy Reeves, executive director of CTAC. "Skatetacular isn't like 'Disney on Ice' or anything like that. It's kind of like the Ice Capades, but what's different is the show tells a story and there's a lot of interaction with the crowd.
"One thing I'm waiting to see is how they turn the stage at the Simmons Center into an ice rink."
Once Skatetacular's technicians have made that conversion, a group of experienced professional skaters will take the audience on a journey in which the cast is dreaming its way through the seasons, in search of eternal winter.
Young Ella has has lost her winter dream, and it's up to the audience to help her retrieve the dream.
