Fairy tales mashed-up with hilarious results
Have you heard the story of Goldilocks and the Three Pigs? No, that's not a typo. "Goldilocks and the Three Pigs," is a children's play written by Larry Damico.
Known as a mash-up fairy tale, the play takes two famous stories, "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" and "The Three Little Pigs," and puts them together with hilarious results.
Local audiences will get a chance to experience this fairy tale mash-up when the City of Lawton and the Lawton Arts and Humanities Council bring "Goldilocks and the Three Pigs" to the McMahon Auditorium.
"It's probably the best-written children's play I've ever read, " said Diane Denham, the show's director.
Denham has been involved in the local theater scene through the Lawton Community Theatre for around 25 years.
"It's kind of always been my passion. I would have loved to have done it as a life's work, but I had to make a living," Denham said. " So I was a school administrator and a wealth management adviser for years. Then I actually went back to Cameron and got a theater degree; I graduated a couple years ago."
A fan of all of the creative arts, Denham believes that participating in creative works helps to stimulate the mind.
