CTAC to fund Stephens Co. scholars
DUNCAN Two Stephens County high school students will receive some help with their college finances when the Chisholm Trail Arts County awards its 2018 CTAC Arts Scholarships.
Duncan-based CTAC began the Arts Scholarship program in 2017, when Duncan High graduate Rebekah Kafer was presented with a $500 to assist her at Oklahoma State University.
This year, two Stephens County graduates will receive $500 scholarships.
"We tried the scholarship program last year and decided it had worked well, so this year we will be giving scholarships to two people," said CTAC Executive Director Darcy Reeves. "In the past, the scholarships were available but nobody ever applied. Now that it's worked once, we thought we could expand the program this year."
To qualify for a scholarship, students must be seniors at one of the Stephens County high schools Duncan, Marlow, Central High, Empire, Velma-Alma or Comanche.
"Applicants must be planning to be enrolled at a two- or four-year university, and they must be planning to major in the fine arts," Reeves noted.
