Solar project planned

MOUNTAIN PARK  Twenty people attended a meeting last week to explore what is called the North Fork Solar Project.

It is believed it will be created by Trade Winds Energy, Kansas City, Kan. Briana Baca will be the contact person.

It was explained at the meeting the project will cover 1,200 acres southwest of Snyder. Its construction cost is estimated at $120 million. A construction force of approximately 200 people is said to be needed and the project should take a year to complete.

Two Towns-One Heart-Mountain Park and Snyder is a group of citizens working to attract new families and businesses to ensure growth and a quality future for the two communities.

The group has a website, and it also has a Facebook site.

During the meeting, it was explained all land included in the project will be leased from landowners involved in the project. As the land is leased, approximately 2,400 acres split into two different areas, 1,200 acres each, would house the project.
