Chevrolet dealership celebrates new ownership, name Thursday

The city's Chevrolet dealership officially celebrated its new ownership and name with a grand opening on Thursday.

The dealership was sold to Erv Randle and partner Tom Durant in September and renamed Classic Lawton Chevrolet. Randle, who is also general manager of the city dealership at 8308 Cache Road, moved here immediately and now the whole family is here.

Randle told the crowd at the grand opening that he's committed to a "long-term relationship" with the community.

Moving here immediately  an "all-out family move"  he said, is part of that commitment. He wants to be involved in the community so he'll know who his customers are and what they want from his dealership.

Randle is a native of Mumford, Texas. After playing football at Baylor University, he spent eight years in the NFL as middle linebacker from 1985 to 1990 for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and from 1991 to 1992 with the Kansas City Chiefs.
