Weekend sale will benefit Elgin Community Library
ELGIN — Friends of the Elgin Community Library will host a rummage sale Friday and Saturday at 108 Thoma Drive.
The sale will benefit the library and help expenses as the library moves from its present location to the new location.
“We are going from 1,100 square feet to 3,200 square feet,” Leslie Durham, librarian, said. “We have been at the old library since 2011. We have 10,500 books in our inventory right now so the expanded space will definitely be nice.”
“We are remodeling the building which the City of Elgin bought to be our new library,” Jeannie Cook, chairman of the library board, said. “This rummage sale will help with new lighting, paint and whatever else is needed. Forty-five families have donated items to sell so far and Friends of the Library has donated $35,000 through fundraisers and private donations.”
Items for sale include furniture, home and holiday decor, kitchen items, bedding, toys, baby gear, sink, stove, interior doors, golf clubs, bikes and sports gear, exercise table, tools, electronics, vintage items, games and crafts, books and movies and tons of miscellaneous.
