Voters give approval for new roof for Fletcher School
FLETCHER — Fletcher Public Schools will receive a new roof after district voters overwhelmingly approved an $810,000 bond issue Tuesday.
“Now the work gets to start,” said Shane Gilbreath, superintendent. “Now we have to get busy.”
Out of 228 votes cast, 223 were in favor of the six-year bond — a 97.8 percent total. The overwhelming support is thanks, in part, to the timing of this bond, which will not raise taxes on property owners. It will coincide with the conclusion of two previous bonds, giving the district the money needed to complete the project without having to ask for additional funds from property owners. Gilbreath said he was overwhelmed by the results and excited to get to work.
