Tipton senior gets $30K for prize lamb
TIPTON A Tipton High School senior recently culminated her long career of showing livestock with the record-breaking sale of her lamb at a Denver show.
Destinee Johnson, daughter of Angela and Chris Johnson, was paid a record $30,000 for her grand champion lamb at the National Western Livestock Show. Her entry was the show's grand champion lamb. It was a black face Cross lamb with a weight of 160 pounds. It had previously won fifth place in its class at a Tulsa livestock show.
"It was a surprise to me," Johnson said. "I felt I did my job right in showing."
Johnson said she has been showing lambs and goats for eight years. Last year, Johnson also made history by exhibiting both the grand champion lamb and goat entries at the Oklahoma Youth Expo in Oklahoma City.
