Oklahoma Military Connection Hiring Event in new location
This year’s Oklahoma Military Connection Hiring Event will be in a new location, the Soldier For Life Transition Complex, Building 2502 on Sheridan Road.
The event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Thursday. Also, from 9-10:20 a.m., Citizen Soldier For Life and Oklahoma Works will facilitate a workshop to help jobseekers with resume review, interviewing techniques and dressing for success. The workshop will be in Room 1 of the Soldier For Life Center.
In past years the hiring event has been in the Armed Forces Reserve Center. Transition Services Manager Jane Cunningham said it was moved to the Soldier For Life Transition Complex because Soldier For Life-Transition Assistant Program (SFL-TAP) is working more on the “connect” piece.
“This puts us directly in our footprint to help soldiers with all the other connection pieces we have. We have the USO (Pathfinder office) over there, we have the career skills programs over there, we have some other outside agencies that come one to two times a week to provide counseling and/or assistance to soldiers and family members as they transition” to civilian life, Cunningham explained.
