Meeting today on air pollution from Texas
The Sierra Club will hold a public meeting in Medicine Park today, to hear from experts and people affected by air pollution blowing into Oklahoma from Texas.
The meeting is set from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Medicine Park Community Center, 19001 Highway 49, in Medicine Park.
The air pollution, known as haze, limits the scenic views in Oklahoma's treasured Wichita Mountains, Sierra Club members said, noting that coal-fired power plants in Texas are allowed to send the harmful pollution into Oklahoma virtually without limits. Dinner will be served to participants.
Speakers will include Jerry Dodd, professor in Cameron University's department of agriculture; Ralph Bryant, Wichita Mountains Wildlife Refuge ranger; and William Cunningham, community activist.
