Kiowa Indian Council to elect coordinator
A special meeting of the Kiowa Indian Council (KIC) has been called by the Kiowa Legislature in order to elect a new KIC Coordinator.
The sole purpose of the special meeting, scheduled for Saturday, is to select a candidate. The meeting will be at Red Buffalo Hall at the Kiowa Tribal Complex in Carnegie.
When elected, the coordinator will serve a two-year term. The duties and responsibilities include compiling approved laws and resolutions, preparing meeting agendas, and publishing and providing notices and information to tribal members and the public, according to Neely Tsoodle, tribe information officer.
Three candidates are running for the position; Steven Geronimo Hopkins, Stephen Gregory Smith, and Deborah S. Wilson.
