Joei Whisenant wins title of Miss Teen

TULSA  Miss Oklahoma's Outstanding Teen Pageant brought 34 talented young ladies to the Mabee Center stage in Tulsa this week to compete in areas of scholastic achievement, active wear, evening wear, talent and personal interview. Friday's competition was the final round of several preliminary contests, and ended in the crowning of Joei Whisenant, Miss Edmond LibertyFest.

Miss Southwestern Oklahoma University Evan Mazur, 17, of Cache, won the 2014 People's Choice award, which placed her in the top 11 semi-finalists Friday evening. Mazur is the daughter of Michael and Joni Mazur. She has previously held the title of Miss Lawton's Outstanding Teen and advocates "TNT: Teaching not Testing." Mazur sang "You'll Never Walk Alone" from the musical "Carousel" as her talent.

Other notable accomplishments of area competitors include: Miss Altus' Outstanding Teen Lexi Herron, Bronze Finalist; Miss Lawton Molly Little, Alpha Group's Miss Congeniality; and Mazur, Silver Finalist.
