Aquarium celebrates anniversary
The Medicine Park Aquarium and Natural Sciences Center welcomed new and returning visitors on Saturday during a celebration for the one year anniversary of its opening.
In conjunction with seeing schools of fish, feeding turtles and watching the electric eel show, visitors also enjoyed special activities as part of the celebration, including eating barbecue from a food truck, sipping on drinks from a cash bar and receiving free prizes such as a year membership to the center from a drawing.
Rainette Roland, assistant to executive director Doug Kemper, said she's grateful the center and all its employees, including the biologists, gift shop cashiers and maintenance workers, have provided "enjoyable and memorable experiences" to families in Southwest Oklahoma for a whole year.
"We want to educate our children on what's in their backyards," Roland said. "I'm excited, and I know it's only going to get better."
