Visitors to The 13th Ward in Jenks are going to go a little crazy this Halloween season.
The 13th Ward Operating Manager Tracey Campbell said that their 40,000 square foot facility is based on the real-life tales of the 1952 mental institution run by Dr. Thaddeius Munck, which was promised to be a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility with remedies for the most criminally insane of patients. Instead, the rooms were filled with patients that were treated with torture, lobotomy, electroshock therapy and other illegal experimentation methods. She said that the experiments altered their minds in a way that made them want to kill and destroy everything in their path, human or not.
The 13th Ward was created by the owner of Ehrle's Party and Carnival Supply three years ago. They have recreated the mental facility as a spooky Halloween attraction.
"All of our medical equipment is real with real morgue tables and real gurneys," Campbell said. "Those are the things that really make us different."
