Do not believe everything you read, particularly when it comes to reviews of the TV show "The Neighbors." Every other review I have read thus far of ABC's new Wednesday night comedy has deemed this show to be terrible just as I was prepared to do but upon watching the show, I have decided to give this show at least three out of five stars. Perhaps my unexpected liking of this show comes solely from the fact that I have not seen many shows of its type so the idea was fresh and much better performed than what it appeared to be from the commercials.
Marty (Lenny Venito) and his wife Debbie (Jamie Gertz) and their three kids move into the only empty home in a community of worldly aliens. This alien community is headed up by Larry Bird (Simon Templeman) and Jackie Joyner-Kerseem (Toks Olagundoye). Although the aliens have lived there for 10 years, their human imitation is still lacking a personal touch causing much concern by Marty and Debbie as to what these creatures actually are. When their son, Dick Butkus, shows off a "trick" and transforms himself into his natural alien body in front of the new neighbor kids, panic ensues.
