Over 160 youth volunteers are expected to help several agencies this weekend at the 10th annual United Way Youth Day of Caring.
At 8 a.m. Saturday, local youth will meet for breakfast at the Great Plains Technology Center's Worley Center, building 300, 4500 W. Lee Blvd., sponsored by Johnson and Johnson Locksmith and Southern Sales.
From there, the volunteers will break into groups and travel to eight different sites to work on 14 various projects, such as cleaning up city parks and packing food boxes. United Way of Lawton-Fort Sill Community Relations Coordinator Erin Somes said the volunteers are coming from local schools, churches and organizations.
"These kids will be working on projects that, without their help, local programs would have to pay someone to do or the projects may not get done at all," Somes said.
